He was born Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941 in Duluth Minnesota. He and his brother David grew up in Hibbing, Minnesota and he graduated from Hibbing High School in 1959. He was originally inspired by early rock stars like Little Richard and Elvis Presley but while he was attending college at the University of Minnesota he took a liking to folk music and started performing in local coffee shops and cafes under the name 'Bob Dillon' - a name he got from the popular Western TV show Gunsmoke.

After moving to New York and signing his first contract with Columbia records he released his first self-titled album in 1962. He followed that up with 1963s The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan. By 1965, however, Dylan was beginning to feel drained by constant touring and obligations.

In fact, he considered quitting music for good in after his tour of England. This video sets out to show how Bob Dylan discovered his passion for music after writing his iconic hit long 'Like A Rolling Stone'.

We're also going to take a look at what Bob Dylan is up to these days. At 79, he is still making music and tapping into something uniquely magical. Find out all about his latest hit song 'Murder Most Foul' at the end of this video.
